Felipe González to attend the International Free Software Conference 18 February in Malaga

Felipe González confirms his attendance for the first day of the International Free Software Conference taking place 18 to 20 February. The participation of González at the international event answers his constant concern themes related to the development of New Technologies and the Society of Knowledge

The expresident of the Spanish government, in his establishment elected man of the people from day to day of politics, maintains that participating in world conferences is a vital activity. Matters concerning New Technologies and the Society of Knowledge and the knowledge awake significant interest in Felipe González who dedicates a lot of his time to reflecting on how these themes may affect the lives of others.

Participating alongside Felipe González, 18 February, will be the Euro-parliamentarian: Marco Carpatto, expert for the Society of Information and Fernando Villespín, Lecturer of Political Science for the Administration of the Autonomous University of Madrid, who brings to light scientific policy and technological themes.

Felipe González was president for the Spanish Government from 1982 to 1996. He received the Carlos Magno Prize in 1993 and the Carlos V Prize from the Yuste Academy in 2000. He is also the Honoured Doctor for the universities of Lovaina and Toulouse. He is currently also the president of the Foundation of Global Progress.

In our days of debate in forums and conferences regarding the communications revolution that the Internet represents, the changes that carry this revolution and as “the countries have to make a definite cultural change in order to affront the challenge of globalisation, with creativity, whilst taking risks and sustaining to hold back”, explains González.
