First Debian Derivative Meeting

Bdale Garbee, former Debian Project Leader and current HP Linux CTO 11-02-2004 WEB EDITORIAL ESTAF
from 18 to 20 February 2004 will be held in Málaga the First Debian Derivative Meeting, on the context of the Open Source World Conference

Debian is living a sweet moment, as it's being used by thousands of users, and more to come (Andalucía, Extremadura, and more that are about to happen in Spain, Brasil, Argentina and others).

The meeting will involve Guadalinex, Linex, SkoleLinux and the rest of initiatives derived from Debian, the developement methodologies, the synergies between them.

As the organizers says in his web page: “ ...we want to try to avoid forks, and to achieve getting all that effort back into Debian.”

Although it is a completely open meeting, it is not a divulgative event as the rest of the OSWoC., everybody can get in the meeting, listen, talk, give ideas, discuss, insult somehow...

At this moment, are confirmed the following invited assistants:

● Wichert Akkerman, member of the security team and dpkg developer
● Vidar Bakke, SkoleLinux developer
● Jesús González-Barahona, Debian developer
● Bdale Garbee, former Debian Project Leader and current HP Linux CTO
● Konstantinos Margaritis, from the Debian distro in Greece
● Martin Michlmayr, current DPL HYPERLINK
● José Angel Díaz, LinEx, Extremadura Digital Literacy Plan coordinator
● Petter Reinholdtsen, SkoleLinux
● Amaya Rodrigo, Debian developer
● Teófilo Ruiz, HYPERLINK GuadaLinEx developer
